I go to Beverly Hills a few times a year. Sometimes I go to shop. Other times I go to eat + drink. Occasionally I go to people watch. If I’m going to do all three, I always stop for brunch at Villa Blanca (want proof? check out this post from seven years ago)- a few short steps off of Rodeo Drive and you enter a bright white place to sip, dine, + stare.
I am very particular about my hair. So much so that I have been using the same colorist for 17 years + the same artist for my hair extensions for 6 years. In my opinion, both of these women are absolute masters.
My colorist is Sarah – she is an all around badass of a female. She owns Salon Patine, she’s a Redken Certified Stylist, and she passed some master stylist test (like the Bar Exam of Hair) that is beyond my comprehension. She is essentially the guru of color… especially blonde. On top of all of that, she is truly one of my favorite people on the planet.
My extension artist is Maria. Watching her work is incredible. She is a perfectionist (yes, please!), focused, and so. much. fun. She can tell you all about her travels, her home renovations, and she always knows the best places to shop.

I was craving something: Hearty. Filling. Healthy. Savory. Satisfying. A little sweet. A little spicy. Full of vitamins. Crammed with fiber. Oh… and it needed to be a vegan recipe.
I was basically asking for the Holy Grail of all lunches… so I decided to create it.
This Vegan BBQ Jackfruit Bowl is full of so much deliciousness (8 layers of deliciousness to be precise!). It is also prepared the way that I make so many of my lunches: a lot of the materials are already prepped and flavored, but there are enough modifications and homemade additions to make it special + somewhat impressive.
