CURRENT OBSESSION – HANEY
Haney Prêt-à-Couture is a collection that embodies the “luxe details and sleek silhouettes of the 70s” and the “drama and sophistication of Old Hollywood” {a pretty lethal combination if you ask me}. It’s the silhouette that I feel really sets this line apart… dressing women in long lines is flattering and customizable options for each look allow you to make the piece your own {being 6’2″, I am grateful to be able to make the piece longer… or shorter, if I’m feeling especially daring that day}.
Check out shophaney.com for some of their fully customizable Prêt-à-Couture options. Each option is customizable in a myriad of ways… some allow you to alter length, add or subtract sleeves, change the type of metal used in embellishing the item, or change the color altogether.
Additionally, like all things based out of Los Angeles… Haney received some pretty amazing celebrity endorsements from some women who look absolutely stunning in dresses from the Haney line {though… and it’s my personal favorite… Haney carries jumpsuits, too}!
I will be covering the Haney trunk show in Montecito, California next week… stay tuned for pictures from the event. I cannot wait to check out the line and meet the designer, Mary Alice Haney.

HOW TO MAKE CARE PACKAGES FOR THE HOMELESS {aka BLESSING BAGS}

I hesitate to write about volunteering and charity for fear of coming across as “preachy” or a “self-indulgent do-gooder” or a myriad of other negative terms that one can apply to someone who participates in charitable ventures simply for the praise that may result from the participation. After much thought, I decided to share my Christmas tradition with you… simply because I thought that the more people that took part in this tradition, the better Christmas could be for so many others. On Christmas Day, I load my canvas totes with care packages to give to the homeless {some refer to these packages as “Blessing Bags”… a term that is a bit too ostentatious for my taste}. Below, there is a graphic showing you what I suggest to be included in your care package {though you can include anything you like!}. Everything should fit in a gallon sized ziplock bag {for ease of distribution and ease of carrying after it has been gifted}. It is also wise to carry these in your car year-round to give to anyone who may be asking assistance on the side of the road or at a stoplight. What do you do to give back to your community?Suggestions for inclusion: tissue, deodorant, mouth wash, shampoo, toothbrush, cotton swabs, band-aids, toothpaste, soap, chapstick, raisins, cookies, crackers, & anything else you can think of! Make as many of the bags as you can afford to create and walk around handing them out or keep them in your car in preparation for running into someone in need.

GLUTEN FREE THANKSGIVING {HOW TO HOST A GLUTEN-FREE HOLIDAY}
Russ Parsons’ Dry-Brined Turkey {a.k.a. The Judy Bird}
As I walked through Santa Barbara’s Farmers’ Market and collected some stunning decorative kale & gladiolas to adorn the Thanksgiving table, it struck me that this will be my first gluten-free Thanksgiving. As opposed to being discouraged, I scoured Pinterest for gluten-free alternatives to classic Thanksgiving staples. I’ve gathered my favorites here {all linking back to their original source} for you to enjoy. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
