THE SKIN YOU’RE IN

Welcome to Winter: Hot chocolate.  The holidays.  Time with your loved ones.  And… dry skin.

As I’ve gotten older and (I’d like to think) wiser, I’ve learned to take care of my skin… and I want to share my routine with you.

I have worked out a skincare deal just in time for the holidays for Blonder Ambitions readers (I appreciate you so!).  Continue reading and find your holiday code at the bottom.

mud-mask
Once a week, I spend one hour “masking.”  I combine three different masks. I’ve found that this combination gets rid of dry winter skin, diminishes blackheads and pore size, and fades wrinkles (it’s amazing how important the concept of “anti-aging” becomes when you hit 31… tip to the younger ladies: start your anti-aging routine now… your skin will thank you later).

Step 1 in my skin routine: I use a Glacial Marine Mud Mask to draw impurities and toxins out of the skin.

Ready for some science? The basic molecular structure of this mask is negatively charged.  The positive ions that naturally occur in the mud and positively charged impurities bind to the mud’s negative charge and can then be rinsed away.

BOLD BROW & LIP MAKEUP TUTORIAL

My sister and I were going to a trunk show in Montecito, California and I wanted a look that was fresh, but not overdone.  I also wanted to play up my features in a way that was playful and pretty, not sexy and sultry… this was a daytime event with ladies who lunch and I wanted a look that was on point and respectful without sacrificing any style.  My sister suggested playing up my brows and lips and leaving my eyes clean and simple.  Her suggestion was spot-on… and this has now become one of my go-to makeup looks. Check out the video below for the simple step-by-step tutorial to achieving this bold look.

HOW TO – PATRIOTIC PINUP HAIR & MAKEUP

You can pull off this Patriotic Pinup look at anytime {and it’s the perfect complement to yesterday’s look: All-American Girl}.  This 1940’s inspired look can be worn year-round; professional enough for daytime responsibilities and flirty enough for nighttime encounters.

Now that you have your hair pinned away from your face… and now that your face is framed with soft curls… it’s time to pull off a makeup look to match.

In about 10 minutes, you can complete the makeup routine.  Keys to this look: fresh skin, contoured cheekbones, winged liner with dramatic lashes on upper lash line only, and bold matte red lips.
